Soong classification

Also known as Soong grade

A grading of volar plate prominence on the lateral radiograph. A line is drawn tangential to the most volar point of the volar rim, parallel to the volar cortex of the shaft: grade 0 plates stay behind it, grade 1 plates lie in front of it but short of the rim, and grade 2 plates sit on or beyond the volar rim. Grade 2 prominence is associated with flexor tendon rupture.
