medial femoral condyle (MFC) flap

The MFC flap, vascularised by the descending genicular artery, provides a thin, pliable corticoperiosteal sheet that conforms well to the proximal scaphoid. The related medial femoral trochlea (MFT) flap delivers an additional articular cartilage component for reconstruction of the proximal articular surface. Both flaps require microsurgical capability and are typically reserved for revision and AVN cases in tertiary centres.
