Provocative test for extensor carpi ulnaris tendinopathy (Ruland and Hogan, 2008): with the elbow on the table, the forearm supinated and the fingers extended, the patient radially abducts the thumb against resistance; the synergistic contraction of extensor carpi ulnaris reproduces dorsal ulnar wrist pain when the tendon is the source. It loads the tendon without stressing the intra-articular ulnar structures.
