Medical Disclaimer
§ 01 — Scope and standing
Medical Disclaimer
This page sets out the terms on which the contents of drgladysz.com (the “site”) are made available. It applies to every page on the site, including patient-information articles, peer-audience articles, procedure pages, the glossary, calculators, and any educational MCQ content. Reading this disclaimer is a condition of relying on anything published here.
§ 02 — Information, not medical advice
Information published here is general; it is not advice for you
The site is an informational resource maintained by Mateusz Gładysz, MD, FEBOPRAS, FEBHS — a plastic and hand surgeon registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (registration 93463) and with the Naczelna Izba Lekarska in Poland (PWZ 2985148). Nothing on the site constitutes medical advice, creates a doctor–patient relationship, or substitutes for an in-person consultation with a qualified clinician who has examined you and reviewed your history.
The locked inline qualifier appears throughout the site and applies in full here:
Individual results vary. The information on this page is for general guidance and does not replace a consultation with a qualified medical professional. Surgical outcomes depend on factors specific to each patient and cannot be guaranteed.
The site distinguishes between three classes of content — patient-information articles written for a general audience, peer-audience articles written for clinicians, and procedure pages summarising specific operations. The register and depth differ; the disclaimer does not.
§ 03 — What the site does not do
Specific exclusions
The site does not provide:
- triage of acute or undifferentiated symptoms;
- second opinions on imaging, pathology, or any other clinical investigation;
- prescriptions for medicines, devices, or therapies;
- diagnosis of any condition.
Requests for any of the above received by email or through the contact form will not be answered substantively. Where appropriate the sender will be directed to local emergency services or to a treating clinician.
§ 04 — Emergencies
If you are in distress, do not use this website
If you, or someone with you, may be experiencing a medical emergency:
- in New Zealand, call 111;
- in Poland or anywhere in the European Union, call 112;
- otherwise call your local emergency number or attend the nearest emergency department.
The site has no monitoring function. Messages sent through the contact form or by email are not read in real time.
§ 05 — External links
Links to third-party resources
The site links to external resources for verification and academic transparency, including PubMed, DOI resolvers, ORCID, journal publisher pages, the MCNZ public register, the Naczelna Izba Lekarska register, and Wikidata. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement of the linked organisation, of any other content it publishes, or of any commercial activity it conducts. External sites are governed by their own terms and privacy practices, which the operator of this site does not control.
§ 06 — Citations and third-party works
Vancouver/AMA citation system
Academic citations on the site follow the Vancouver/AMA convention. Citations identify the specific source for a specific claim and are made for the purposes of verification, criticism, and review. A citation indicates that Dr Gładysz endorses the cited literature for the particular point referenced — not the entirety of the cited work, the position of its authors on related questions, or the editorial line of the journal in which it appears. Quotations and short excerpts are reproduced under fair-dealing/fair-use principles for academic and informational purposes.
§ 07 — AI-assisted research and authorship
Disclosure of AI use
Dr Gładysz’s published research includes work on AI-assisted clinical documentation (JMIR AI, 2026). In keeping with the transparency that work argues for, the following applies to the site itself:
- some site content has been drafted or edited with the assistance of generative artificial-intelligence tools;
- every page so prepared is reviewed by Dr Gładysz personally before publication, and the substantive clinical claims are his own;
- AI assistance does not reduce the author’s responsibility for accuracy, and errors should be reported to the address in the document-control block below.
The site does not deploy AI for any patient-facing diagnostic, triage, or decision-support function.
§ 08 — Glossary tooltips and footnotes
Condensed information by design
The glossary and footnote system presents condensed definitions and references. Tooltips are aids to reading, not clinical references; the surrounding article text is authoritative within the site, and consultation with a treating clinician remains authoritative for any individual case.
§ 09 — Calculators and educational tools
QuickDASH, PRWE, Boston CTS, FEBHS MCQ and similar
Patient-reported outcome calculators (e.g., QuickDASH, PRWE, Boston Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Questionnaire) reproduced on the site are educational tools. They are not validated for individual clinical decision-making outside an established clinician–patient relationship and must not be used as the sole basis for any treatment decision. The FEBHS MCQ content and any other educational examination material are provided for self-directed learning and are not certified preparation for any examination.
§ 10 — Limitation of liability
Liability framing
The site is published with reasonable care; nevertheless its content is provided “as is” without warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for any particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the extent permitted by law, neither Dr Gładysz nor any party associated with the site accepts liability for loss or damage arising from reliance on site content.
In New Zealand, treatment-related personal injury is dealt with under the Accident Compensation scheme; that statutory framework is not modified by this disclaimer, and nothing here purports to limit any right a reader may have under the Health and Disability Commissioner Act 1994 or the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’ Rights 1996. In Poland, professional civil liability (OC) is governed by the applicable provisions of the Kodeks cywilny and the ustawa o działalności leczniczej; nothing here purports to limit any right a patient may have under the ustawa o prawach pacjenta i Rzeczniku Praw Pacjenta.
§ 11 — Currency of information
Medical knowledge advances
Articles are dated at first publication and reviewed periodically. The version date of any individual page is recorded in its document-control block. Readers — and especially clinicians citing the site in their own work — should verify the currency of any specific clinical claim against current primary literature and applicable national guidance before relying on it.
§ 12 — Translations
English and Polish versions
The site is published in English and in Polish. The two versions are independently composed and intended to be substantively equivalent. In the event of conflict, the version in the language of the reader’s primary jurisdiction applies — English for readers in New Zealand and other English-speaking jurisdictions, Polish for readers in Poland. Neither version is a sworn translation.
§ 13 — Trademarks and institutional names
References to third parties
Institutional names appearing on the site — including, without limitation, Hannover Medical School (Medizinische Hochschule Hannover), Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Kantonsspital Aarau, University of Zurich, Waikato Hospital, Te Whatu Ora, Hamilton, the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, the European Board of Hand Surgery, the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand, the Naczelna Izba Lekarska, and the Okręgowa Izba Lekarska w Warszawie im. prof. Jana Nielubowicza — are referenced for biographical and academic accuracy only. Their use does not imply affiliation with, endorsement by, or any commercial relationship with the named institution beyond what is factually stated on the relevant page. Trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
§ 14 — Regulatory framing

This disclaimer is drafted to be read alongside the obligations applicable to the operator: in New Zealand, the MCNZ Statement on Advertising, Medicines Act 1981 s.58(1), the ASA Therapeutic and Health Advertising Code, the Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code 2020, and the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’ Rights 1996; in Poland, Article 71 of the Kodeks Etyki Lekarskiej (in force from 1 January 2025), the ustawa o zawodach lekarza i lekarza dentysty, Naczelna Rada Lekarska Resolution 29/11/VI, Article 14 of the ustawa o działalności leczniczej, the 2023 medical-device-advertising regime, the RODO (GDPR), Article 81 of the ustawa o prawie autorskim i prawach pokrewnych, and the ustawa o prawach pacjenta i Rzeczniku Praw Pacjenta.
